What 1975 cult musical features the character Dr. Frank-N-Furter?

The story behind the answer

The 1975 cult musical featuring Dr. Frank-N-Furter is The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The character is a flamboyant scientist who creates Rocky, a fully grown, muscular man, inside his castle-like home.

The film follows the newly engaged Brad Majors and Janet Weiss after their car breaks down during a storm. They seek help at Frank-N-Furter's mansion, where they encounter an eccentric household of aliens, servants, partygoers, and the mysterious creation Rocky.

Directed by Jim Sharman and written by Sharman and Richard O'Brien, the movie adapts O'Brien's stage musical The Rocky Horror Show. Its songs include “Sweet Transvestite” and “Time Warp,” and its story affectionately parodies science-fiction and horror films from earlier decades.

The film initially received mixed reviews, but midnight screenings, audience participation, costumes, and call-backs transformed it into a landmark cult phenomenon. Tommy and Hair are also rock musicals, but neither features Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
