Until 2012, most London Grand Prix editions were held at the National Sports Centre.

The venue is the athletics stadium at Crystal Palace in south London, commonly called the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. It hosted the London meeting for most years from 1964 through 1996 and again from 1999 through 2012. The exceptions included the 1997 and 1998 editions, which were held at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium.

The wording “most editions” matters: the meeting’s long history includes earlier venues and occasional moves. The event began in 1953, and its naming also changed repeatedly, including British Games, London Grand Prix, and Anniversary Games. Those variations can make venue records look more complicated than they are.

The 2012 edition was the last London Grand Prix staged at Crystal Palace. In 2013, the event moved to the Olympic Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, later known as London Stadium. The relocation connected the meeting with the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games and established the newer stadium as its regular modern home.
