Which body organizes the 2026 Diamond League?

World Athletics organizes the 2026 Diamond League.

World Athletics is the international governing body for athletics, including track and field, road running, cross-country, race walking, mountain running and trail running. In the Diamond League, it oversees the series framework, competition regulations, meeting status and the season-wide points structure, working with local meeting organizers.

The organization was founded in 1912 as the International Amateur Athletic Federation, commonly abbreviated IAAF. It adopted the name International Association of Athletics Federations in 2001 and rebranded as World Athletics in 2019. The Diamond League is one of its premier one-day competition series.

Diamond Sports Group is a sports-media company, not the athletics governing body. UK Athletics governs athletics in Britain, while European Athletics is the continental association for Europe; neither is the global organizer of the full Diamond League calendar. The 2026 circuit is the series’ seventeenth season and includes meetings across several continents before its final in Brussels.
