Mike D’Antoni was inducted into the 2026 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as a contributor. The category recognized his broader impact on basketball beyond his playing career.
D’Antoni played professionally in Italy and the NBA before becoming a coach. His Phoenix Suns teams became associated with a fast, three-point-oriented style that influenced modern offensive basketball.
Although he is widely known as an NBA coach, the Hall listed him under the Contributors Committee rather than the coaching category. That distinction reflects the Hall’s separate pathways for recognizing influential figures whose basketball impact spans multiple roles.
