Under BWF rules, how wide is a full doubles badminton court?
Answer
6.10 metres
Answer
6.10 metres
Under BWF rules, a full doubles badminton court is 6.10 metres wide.
The doubles width is measured between the outermost side lines. A singles court uses the inner side lines and is 5.18 metres wide, while both formats share the same 13.40-metre court length. The extra width gives doubles players more lateral space but also requires them to cover fast drives and interceptions.
Court lines are normally 40 millimetres wide and count as part of the area they mark. That detail matters when a shuttle lands on a boundary: a shuttle touching the line is in. The doubles side lines can therefore look confusing beside the narrower singles lines.
The 6.10-metre figure is the court width, not the total playing area around it. Tournament venues also require clear space beyond the court so players can move safely and officials can operate without obstruction.
