Rick and Morty was renewed through season 12 at New York Comic Con in 2024. Adult Swim announced two additional seasons at the show’s October 17, 2024 panel.
The renewal covered seasons 11 and 12, meaning season 10 would not be the end of the series. Executive producers Dan Harmon and Scott Marder made the announcement during a panel that also featured a first look at season eight. Adult Swim’s statement said the two-season pickup would carry the global animated hit to its 12th season.
This announcement is separate from the famous 70-episode order made in 2018. That earlier deal was initially associated with the show’s run through season 10; the 2024 pickup added two more seasons. Another common confusion is treating a renewal as a release announcement: NYCC confirmed the seasons, but it did not mean all of them were already scheduled to air immediately.
