Through which committee was 2026 Hall of Fame inductee Mike D’Antoni selected?

Mike D’Antoni was selected to the 2026 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame through the Contributors Committee.

The Contributors Committee recognizes people whose influence on basketball extends beyond the standard player, coach, referee, or team classifications. D’Antoni’s selection reflects his work as a coach and basketball innovator, especially the fast-paced offensive systems associated with his NBA teams.

D’Antoni played professionally in Italy and later coached Benetton Treviso before becoming an NBA head coach. His Phoenix Suns teams became closely associated with an up-tempo style often described as “Seven Seconds or Less.”

The committee designation can be confused with the North American Committee, which selected several other 2026 inductees, including Doc Rivers, Mark Few, Joey Crawford, and Amar’e Stoudemire. D’Antoni was the class’s lone Contributors Committee selection.
