The video game "Assassin's Creed Unity" is the successor to what 2013 "Assassin's Creed" title?

Assassin's Creed Unity is the successor to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, the 2013 pirate adventure in Ubisoft's long-running series.

Black Flag follows Edward Kenway, a Welsh privateer who becomes involved with both the Assassins and Templars during the Golden Age of Piracy. Its open-world Caribbean setting, ship combat and naval exploration made it a major departure from earlier entries. It was released in October 2013 for older-generation consoles, with other versions following.

Unity arrived in November 2014 and moved the action to Paris during the French Revolution, following Assassin Arno Dorian. Although it continued the modern-day Assassin-versus-Templar storyline, it introduced a new historical setting, a new protagonist and four-player cooperative missions. Assassin's Creed Rogue was also released alongside Unity for older consoles, which can cause confusion: Rogue is a parallel release, while Black Flag is Unity's direct main-series predecessor.
