The most common type of Diabetes is?
Answer
Type 2 Diabetes
Answer
Type 2 Diabetes
The most common type of diabetes is Type 2 diabetes. It is a chronic metabolic condition in which the body does not use insulin effectively and, over time, may also produce too little insulin. Insulin is the hormone that helps glucose move from the bloodstream into cells for energy.
Type 2 diabetes is different from Type 1 diabetes, which is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system destroys the pancreatic beta cells that make insulin. Type 2 usually develops gradually and is influenced by inherited risk, age, body composition, physical inactivity, and other health factors. It can occur in people with or without obesity, and lifestyle factors are only one part of its overall cause.
The condition is often associated with high blood glucose, insulin resistance, and increased risks to the heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves, and blood vessels. Many people have few noticeable symptoms at first, so screening can be important. Prediabetes can precede Type 2 diabetes, and early management may include physical activity, nutrition changes, weight management when appropriate, medication, and regular medical monitoring.
