The 2014 Miami Masters was Martina Hingis's first tournament title since making her doubles comeback in 2013.
Hingis won the women's doubles title with Germany's Sabine Lisicki at the Miami tournament, then known as the Sony Open Tennis. They defeated Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina in the final, 4–6, 6–4, [10–5]. The victory marked Hingis's first title since her 2007 doubles win in Doha.
The result was part of Hingis's second attempt to return to professional tennis. She had briefly tried to resume doubles competition in 2013 with Daniela Hantuchová, but that comeback produced limited results. Her Miami run in 2014 was therefore a major turning point, especially because the event was one of the most prestigious tournaments outside the Grand Slam championships.
A common mix-up is to treat this as a singles title. Hingis was a former world No. 1 singles player, but her Miami victory came in women's doubles. It was also her 38th career doubles title.
