Taylor Swift’s “august” appears on which album?

Taylor Swift’s “august” appears on the album Folklore.

Released in 2020, Folklore is Swift’s eighth studio album and was issued as a surprise release during the COVID-19 pandemic. “august” is one of its fictional, story-driven songs rather than a direct account of Swift’s personal life.

The track belongs to a three-song narrative often called the Teenage Love Triangle. “cardigan” presents Betty’s perspective, “betty” presents James’s perspective, and “august” follows the unnamed girl involved with James during the summer. This connection is why the song is often discussed alongside those two tracks.

Folklore also marked a major shift toward indie folk, chamber pop, and subdued storytelling. Its cottagecore-inspired visual style and fictional characters helped distinguish it from Swift’s more autobiographical earlier albums. The song’s recurring August popularity comes from both its title and its late-summer storyline.
