Samsung Electronics, one of South Korea’s largest companies by market capitalization, has its headquarters in Suwon.
Samsung Electronics is headquartered in the Yeongtong District of Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. Suwon lies just south of Seoul and is widely associated with Samsung because the company’s major research, development, and corporate facilities are located there.
The company was established in 1969 and became a global producer of semiconductors, smartphones, televisions, home appliances, and display panels. It is separate from Samsung Life Insurance, Samsung SDI, and the many other affiliates of the broader Samsung Group.
Seoul is a common answer because it is South Korea’s capital and contains many corporate offices, including Samsung-related facilities. However, Samsung Electronics’ registered headquarters is in Suwon. Samsung Electronics is also distinct from Samsung Group, the wider conglomerate whose businesses include finance, construction, shipbuilding, and retail.
