Pokémon Scarlet and Violet introduced which generation of Pokémon?
Answer
Generation IX
Answer
Generation IX
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet introduced Generation IX of the Pokémon franchise.
The two Nintendo Switch games were released worldwide on November 18, 2022. Their setting is Paldea, a region strongly inspired by Spain and the wider Iberian Peninsula. The games introduced new species, regional forms, and the Terastallization battle mechanic.
The first Generation IX Pokémon were revealed during a Pokémon Presents presentation on February 27, 2022. The generation eventually included 120 new species, including the starter Pokémon Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
Generation IX followed Generation VIII, which began with Pokémon Sword and Shield. The Roman numeral is important because “Generation X” would suggest a later generation than the one introduced by Scarlet and Violet. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is associated with the Kalos region, but Scarlet and Violet remain the games that began Generation IX.
