Peter Hayes, Robert Levon Been and Leah Shapiro make up what band?

Peter Hayes, Robert Levon Been and Leah Shapiro make up Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. The San Francisco rock band formed in the late 1990s, originally featuring Hayes, Been and drummer Nick Jago. Shapiro joined as drummer in 2008 after previously playing with The Raveonettes.

The group’s name comes from the fictional motorcycle gang in the 1953 film The Wild One, starring Marlon Brando. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club became known for its blend of alternative rock, garage rock, blues rock and psychedelic influences. Its early albums, including B.R.M.C. and Take Them On, On Your Own, helped establish the band’s dark, fuzz-heavy sound.

A common mix-up is identifying Nick Jago as part of the band’s current lineup. He was an important original member, but Shapiro replaced him and became the band’s drummer. Hayes handles guitar and vocals, while Been contributes bass, guitar and vocals.
