On which US chart did Taylor Swift’s “August” debut at number 23?

Taylor Swift’s “August” debuted at number 23 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The song entered the US Hot 100 on the chart dated August 8, 2020. It remained on that chart for two consecutive weeks, reflecting the immediate attention generated by Folklore’s surprise release.

“August” performed differently on genre-specific and worldwide charts. It simultaneously debuted and peaked at number five on Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, while its later worldwide peak on the Billboard Global 200 was number 46.

The number 23 debut is therefore not the song’s highest position on every chart. It is specifically its entry position on the US Billboard Hot 100. The song’s annual August resurgence has also produced renewed streaming interest in later years, separate from its original 2020 chart debut.
