Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions premiered on Disney+.
The 2020 concert documentary features Taylor Swift performing the songs from Folklore with producers Aaron Dessner and Jack Antonoff. Swift, Dessner, and Antonoff discuss the writing and recording process between performances, giving viewers context for tracks including “august.”
The documentary was released on November 25, 2020, several months after Folklore’s surprise album release. It also accompanied a live album of the same name, allowing the project to exist both as a filmed performance and as an audio release.
The Long Pond setting is significant because Long Pond Studio is connected to the album’s production. Swift and her collaborators recorded the performances there in an intimate environment, but the documentary’s distribution platform was Disney+, not a music-streaming service such as Spotify or Apple Music.
