House M.D. originally aired in the United States on Fox. The network broadcast the medical drama from its premiere in 2004 through the final episode in 2012.
Fox scheduled the series as a television medical mystery, distinguishing it from hospital dramas focused mainly on surgery or emergency-room action. Each episode commonly followed House and his team as they investigated a puzzling illness.
The show became one of Fox’s major scripted successes and was distributed internationally under the title House. Its popularity helped make the character Gregory House recognizable well beyond the United States.
Viewers sometimes confuse Fox with the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, where much of the story takes place. Princeton-Plainsboro is the show’s setting; Fox was the real-world broadcaster that commissioned and aired the series.
