In House M.D., Eric Foreman becomes the diagnostic department boss who replaces Lisa Cuddy as the hospital’s dean of medicine.
Foreman begins the series as one of House’s fellows and later develops into a senior physician and administrator. His medical specialty is neurology, and his career reflects the show’s recurring question of whether a doctor can learn from House without adopting House’s recklessness.
After Cuddy leaves Princeton-Plainsboro, Foreman becomes dean of medicine in season 8. The appointment changes his relationship with House: he now has institutional authority over his former mentor while still understanding House’s methods better than many administrators do.
Foreman’s promotion is not the same as becoming head of every clinical service. In the finale-era hospital structure, his administrative role is dean of medicine, while House returns to diagnostic work under unusual circumstances. Omar Epps portrayed Foreman throughout the series.
