Chelsea visited Fulham on Monday, 24 August 2026, in the final match of the opening round. Their fixture was placed after the Friday, Saturday and Sunday games, extending Matchweek 1 across four consecutive days.
The match was a west London meeting, with Fulham hosting at Craven Cottage and Chelsea travelling from nearby Stamford Bridge. Chelsea therefore began the campaign away from home.
The day is sometimes confused with Sunday because most Premier League opening-weekend fixtures are traditionally concentrated on Saturday and Sunday. In this season’s schedule, however, the final match was deliberately held on Monday.
