On which battleship deck did Japan sign its 1945 surrender instrument?

The story behind the answer

Japan signed its 1945 surrender instrument on the deck of USS Missouri.

The battleship was anchored in Tokyo Bay on September 2, 1945. The setting placed the ceremony close to Japan's capital while keeping it aboard an Allied warship. General Douglas MacArthur opened and closed the proceedings as Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers.

Mamoru Shigemitsu, Japan's foreign minister, signed first for the Japanese government and Emperor. General Yoshijiro Umezu then signed for Japanese Imperial General Headquarters. Allied representatives followed, including Admiral Chester Nimitz for the United States and General Hsu Yung-chang for China.

The ship's deck later became one of the best-known physical locations associated with the end of World War II. USS Missouri is now a museum at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Visitors can see the marked surrender site, although the ship itself is no longer in Tokyo Bay.
