On what date was The Odyssey released in the United States and United Kingdom?

The Odyssey was released in the United States and the United Kingdom on July 17, 2026.

Christopher Nolan’s epic adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek poem was distributed by Universal Pictures. The film received a theatrical release in premium formats, including IMAX, IMAX 70 mm film, and other large-format screens. Its release date was announced well before production began and became one of the most anticipated dates on the 2026 movie calendar.

The date can be confusing because some countries received the film a day or two earlier as part of staggered international distribution. Several European markets listed opening dates of July 15 or July 16, while the United States and United Kingdom were scheduled for July 17. The date also differs from the 1997 television film and the 2016 French film, which share the title but are unrelated productions.

The movie adapts the story of Odysseus’s long journey home after the Trojan War, including encounters with figures such as Polyphemus, Circe, Calypso, and the Sirens.
