On what date was Rocket League released for Xbox One?

The story behind the answer

Rocket League was released for Xbox One on February 17, 2016.

The Xbox One edition was a later port of the game, which had first launched publicly for PlayStation 4 and Windows on July 7, 2015. Psyonix announced the Xbox One version at The Game Awards in late 2015, expanding the car-soccer game to Microsoft’s console audience.

The port included most of the downloadable content packs that had already appeared on the earlier versions at no additional cost. This helped make the Xbox release more than a simple platform conversion: it arrived with a substantial selection of cars, arenas, and cosmetic content accumulated since the original launch.

The date is easy to confuse with other Rocket League milestones. July 7, 2015, is the original public release date; September 8, 2016, belongs to the macOS and Linux versions; and November 14, 2017, is the Nintendo Switch release date. The Xbox One launch therefore occupies a distinct place in the game’s gradual expansion across platforms.
