Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 was released in the United States on 19 November 2010.

The film adapted the first half of Rowling’s final Harry Potter novel. Rather than compressing the entire book into one movie, Warner Bros. divided the adaptation into two parts, allowing the story’s final plot and character developments more room on screen.

Part 1 follows Harry, Ron and Hermione after they leave Hogwarts to find and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes. Much of the film takes place away from the school, giving it a different structure and atmosphere from the earlier entries.

The second part followed on 15 July 2011. The two films were shot largely together, with principal photography taking place from 2009 into 2010.
