Harry Potter’s birthday in the Harry Potter books is 31 July.
Harry is born on 31 July 1980, according to the chronology of the novels. The date is important because it places his birth shortly before the first defeat of Voldemort on 31 October 1981. Harry’s birthday also becomes a recurring detail in the series, including his first birthday celebrated in the wizarding world.
Readers sometimes confuse Harry’s birthday with Halloween because the attack on his parents happened on 31 October. That event occurred when Harry was a baby, not on his birthday. The date 31 July is also associated with the author’s birthday, though the fictional character and J.K. Rowling have different birth years.
