On what date does the United States’ America250 anniversary fall?

The United States’ America250 anniversary falls on July 4, 2026.

The date marks 250 years since the Second Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. America250 is the national commemoration connected with this milestone.

July 4 is commonly called Independence Day because the Declaration publicly announced the colonies’ separation from Great Britain. The independence resolution itself passed on July 2, but July 4 became the traditional anniversary because that was the date Congress approved the final declaration.

The anniversary is also known as the United States Semiquincentennial. It follows the national bicentennial in 1976 and precedes the tricentennial in 2076.
