On what date did the final game of the 2026 NFL preseason take place?

The final game of the 2026 NFL preseason took place on August 29, 2026.

The closing preseason games were played that Saturday, with Detroit visiting Indianapolis and Chicago visiting Tennessee. Those contests completed the league’s three weekly preseason rounds after the August 6 Hall of Fame Game.

The date matters because the preseason schedule spans several weeks rather than ending after a single championship event. Once the final exhibition games concluded, teams moved toward regular-season preparations, including final roster decisions and depth-chart evaluations. The regular season began on September 9.
