On what date did the 2026 America250 Mayflower Compact quarter enter circulation?
Answer
January 5, 2026
Answer
January 5, 2026
The America250 Mayflower Compact quarter entered circulation on January 5, 2026.
This quarter was the first of the five 2026 semiquincentennial quarter designs released into circulation. Its subject is the Mayflower Compact, the 1620 agreement signed by English settlers aboard the Mayflower before the Plymouth Colony was established. The coin’s imagery includes two Pilgrims on the obverse and the Mayflower on the reverse.
The release date is separate from the dates of later designs. The American Revolutionary War quarter followed on March 23, the Declaration of Independence quarter on May 25, and the Constitution quarter on August 10. A Gettysburg Address quarter was scheduled for October 21.
The Mayflower Compact is often described as an early self-government document, but it did not declare American independence. It predates the Revolution by more than 150 years and represents a different chapter in the long political history commemorated during America250.
