The private nonprofit partner founded to support the United States Semiquincentennial Commission is the America250 Foundation.
The foundation was established in 2019 by the commission and the American Battlefield Trust. It became the commission’s private, nonprofit partner and worked under a master service agreement enacted in May 2020.
The foundation and the commission share the America250 identity and website, which can make them appear to be the same organization. They are related but legally distinct: the commission is the congressional body, while the foundation is its nonprofit service partner.
The American Battlefield Trust also has a separate role as the commission’s administrative secretariat. Keeping these three names distinct—the commission, the trust, and the foundation—helps clarify how the anniversary effort was organized.
