Nickelodeon premiered its 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series in the United States on September 29, 2012.
The computer-animated series was developed for Nickelodeon by Ciro Nieli, Joshua Sternin, and J. R. Ventimilia. Its first episode, “Rise of the Turtles,” introduced a new television interpretation of Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, Raphael, Splinter, and April O’Neil.
The premiere followed a Nickelodeon promotional strategy that included an earlier preview broadcast on September 28, 2012. That preview is why some listings and fan references give a different date from the official U.S. series premiere.
The show ran for five seasons, ending in 2017. It combined 3D computer animation with story elements from several earlier versions, including the brothers’ mutation, their training under Splinter, and their conflict with the Kraang and the Foot Clan.
