Answer
November 9, 2004
Answer
November 9, 2004
Halo 2 launched for the original Xbox on November 9, 2004.
Developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios, Halo 2 continued the story of Halo: Combat Evolved and expanded the series with a larger campaign, online multiplayer through Xbox Live, and a second playable perspective centered on the Arbiter. Its release was one of the major events of the original Xbox era.
The date is sometimes mixed up with other important Halo milestones. Halo: Combat Evolved debuted on November 15, 2001, while Halo 3 arrived on September 25, 2007. Halo 2 was later remastered as part of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, but that later collection release does not change the original Xbox launch date.
Halo 2 also helped establish the series as a major online-console franchise. Its matchmaking and multiplayer systems became an important model for later Xbox games.
