America’s Potluck celebrated the United States semiquincentennial on July 5, 2026.
The nationwide communal-meal initiative was organized as a follow-up to the main anniversary date. Neighbors, families, and community groups were invited to share potluck meals and mark the 250th anniversary through local participation rather than a single central ceremony.
America’s Potluck originated with the America250 Utah Commission and expanded across all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Its placement on July 5 made it the day-after event for the semiquincentennial, which was observed on July 4, 2026.
The date is easy to mix up with Independence Day itself. July 4 commemorated the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence; July 5 was selected for the communal potluck celebration. Similar America250 activities used other dates, including the Army’s 250th-anniversary parade in 2025 and the special Times Square countdown on July 3, 2026.
