On what date did America250 commemorate the United States’ 250th anniversary?

America250 commemorated the United States’ 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.

The date marks the 250th anniversary of the Second Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The anniversary is commonly called the United States Semiquincentennial, although America250 is the branding used for the national observance.

July 4 is celebrated as Independence Day because Congress approved the final wording of the Declaration on that date. The independence resolution itself had been approved two days earlier, on July 2, 1776.

America250 follows the United States Bicentennial in 1976. The next major anniversary milestone will be the 300th anniversary, or tricentennial, in 2076.
