On the 2026 U.S. semiquincentennial quarter honoring the Declaration of Independence, what appears on its reverse?

The story behind the answer

The reverse of the 2026 U.S. semiquincentennial quarter honoring the Declaration of Independence features the Liberty Bell.

The coin is one of five special 2026 quarters authorized to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. Its design connects the anniversary to Philadelphia, where the Declaration was debated and adopted and where the Liberty Bell became a major national symbol.

The Liberty Bell is displayed at the Liberty Bell Center in Independence National Historical Park. It was cast in 1752 for the Pennsylvania State House, now known as Independence Hall, and became famous partly because of the crack that developed in the bell.

This quarter is distinct from the separate semiquincentennial quarter honoring the Constitution, whose reverse depicts Independence Hall. The series also includes quarters honoring the Mayflower Compact, the Revolutionary War, and the Gettysburg Address.
