On the 2026 America250 quarter series, which document is shown on the third design?

The story behind the answer

The third design in the 2026 America250 quarter series shows the United States Declaration of Independence.

The semiquincentennial quarter program contains five designs issued during 2026. In sequence, they commemorate the Mayflower Compact, the American Revolutionary War, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and the Gettysburg Address.

The third design’s obverse features Thomas Jefferson, while its reverse features the Liberty Bell. Jefferson was the principal author of the Declaration, although the document was produced through the work of the Committee of Five and revised by the Continental Congress.

The design can be confused with the quarter honoring the Mayflower Compact, which appears first in the series, or with the Constitution quarter, which appears fourth. The quarter program is part of a broader 2026 coinage release that also includes special designs for other circulating denominations.
