On the 1975–1976 United States Bicentennial coinage, which denomination carried Jack L. Ahr’s colonial drummer design?

The story behind the answer

On the 1975–1976 United States Bicentennial coinage, Jack L. Ahr’s colonial drummer design appeared on the quarter.

The United States Mint temporarily redesigned the reverses of the quarter, half dollar, and dollar for the Bicentennial. Each coin carried the double date 1776–1976, regardless of whether it was struck in 1975 or 1976.

A nationwide competition selected different designs for the three denominations. Ahr’s colonial drummer won the quarter competition, Seth Huntington designed the Independence Hall half-dollar reverse, and Dennis R. Williams created the Liberty Bell and Moon design for the dollar.

The quarter’s drummer was surrounded by thirteen stars, representing the original thirteen states. The design was used only for Bicentennial issues; the regular Washington quarter reverse returned after 1976.
