On "Gilmore Girls," Kirk drove a car through the front window of Luke’s Diner.
The mishap occurs in the Season 7 episode "The Long Morrow." Kirk is demonstrating Stars Hollow’s new red-light camera using Taylor Doose’s prized 1964 Ford Thunderbird. When the camera flashes and briefly blinds him, he loses control and crashes the car into Luke’s Diner.
The accident damages the diner and forces Luke to close it temporarily for repairs. Kirk then opens a short-lived substitute business called Kirk’s Diner, copying Luke’s setup and mannerisms while Luke is out of action. The episode turns Kirk’s chronic odd-job energy into one of his most memorable disasters.
The car is often described casually as Kirk’s, but it belongs to Taylor. Another small mix-up is the direction of the crash: the car goes through the diner’s front window, not merely into the building’s side. Kirk is driving, while Taylor is the car’s owner.
