On "Gilmore Girls", which actor played the odd-job townsperson Kirk?

The story behind the answer

On “Gilmore Girls,” Sean Gunn played Kirk, the odd-job townsperson of Stars Hollow.

Kirk Gleason is one of the series’ most recognizable recurring characters, defined by his eccentric behavior, anxious energy, and astonishing number of jobs. Across the show, he works in or attempts nearly every kind of local occupation, turning his employment history into a recurring joke among the residents of Stars Hollow.

Sean Gunn first appeared in the series as Mick, a DSL cable installer, before returning as the distinct character Kirk Gleason. He eventually became a regular cast member and appeared throughout the original series, as well as in the 2016 revival, “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.”

A common mix-up is assuming Kirk was played by Michael Winters, who portrayed Taylor Doose, Stars Hollow’s abrasive town selectman. Todd Lowe played Zack Van Gerbig, Lane’s bandmate and husband, while John Cabrera played Brian Fuller. Sean Gunn is also known for playing Kraglin in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films and for his family connection to filmmaker James Gunn.
