On Gilmore Girls, Christopher has an Indian motorcycle. The bike is featured prominently when Christopher arrives in Stars Hollow in Season 1, Episode 14, “Christopher Returns,” riding in to surprise Lorelai and Rory.
The dialogue identifies it more specifically as a 2000 Indian. Lorelai describes its specifications as 80 horsepower, a five-speed close-ratio Andrews transmission, and expresses interest in owning one herself. The motorcycle is therefore an Indian by make, rather than a generic or unidentified cruiser.
A common mix-up involves Dean’s motorcycle. During his conversation with Christopher, Dean says he has an ’86 Suzuki, which is a different bike belonging to a different character. Christopher’s Indian also became memorable because actor David Sutcliffe reportedly needed a stunt double for the motorcycle entrance, as he did not know how to ride the bike confidently at the time.
Indian Motorcycle had resumed production in Gilroy, California, in the late 1990s, making the 2000 model designation appropriate to the era in which the episode was filmed.
