On "Gilmore Girls," Rory's father Christopher's surname is Hayden.
Christopher Hayden is Lorelai Gilmore's former high-school boyfriend and Rory's father. He and Lorelai became parents as teenagers, but Lorelai chose not to marry him and instead raised Rory largely on her own in Stars Hollow. That decision shapes the show's central family relationships.
Christopher comes from a wealthy, socially prominent family, much like the Gilmores. His return to Rory and Lorelai's lives repeatedly creates hope and conflict: he tries to become more responsible, has relationships with other women, and eventually marries Lorelai briefly in Paris before their marriage ends.
Christopher is also the father of Georgia, usually called Gigi, his daughter with Sherry Tinsdale. That makes Gigi Rory's younger half-sister. In the 2016 revival, Christopher remains connected to the family while Lorelai and Rory confront the choices that shaped their lives. The surname Hayden is easy to confuse with other Stars Hollow family names, including Belleville and Forester, but those belong to different characters.
