In which year did humans first land on the Moon?
Answer
1969
Answer
1969
Humans first landed on the Moon in 1969 during NASA’s Apollo 11 mission.
Apollo 11 launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida on July 16, 1969, carrying astronauts Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Armstrong and Aldrin descended to the lunar surface in the lunar module Eagle, while Collins remained in lunar orbit in the command module Columbia.
The landing occurred on July 20, 1969, in the Moon’s Sea of Tranquility. Armstrong became the first person to step onto the surface, followed shortly afterward by Aldrin. The astronauts collected rock and soil samples, deployed scientific instruments, and photographed the surrounding terrain.
Apollo 11 returned safely to Earth on July 24, 1969. The mission fulfilled a goal set by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and marked the first successful crewed landing on another world. Five additional Apollo missions later landed astronauts on the Moon.
