In which year did Georgia O'Keeffe acquire her Abiquiú house?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe acquired her Abiquiú house in 1945.

The property was an abandoned adobe hacienda that O'Keeffe had noticed during visits to northern New Mexico. She was drawn especially to a courtyard wall with a door, a motif she had already painted repeatedly before she owned the house. After acquiring the property, she worked with a contractor to restore and adapt it as a home and studio.

The Abiquiú house became one of O'Keeffe's principal residences. It offered a different setting from Ghost Ranch, where she had also spent long periods painting the surrounding cliffs, bones, and desert forms.

The house is now preserved as the Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio. It is distinct from the Ghost Ranch residence and from the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, though the museum manages public access to the home.
