In which year did Beyoncé portray Nala in Disney’s live-action The Lion King?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé portrayed Nala in Disney’s 2019 live-action-style remake of The Lion King.

The film was directed by Jon Favreau and released in July 2019. Although commonly called live-action, it was created primarily with photorealistic computer-generated imagery, making its production method different from a conventional filmed live-action movie.

Beyoncé voiced the adult Nala, a lioness who becomes Simba’s partner and queen. Donald Glover voiced Simba, while James Earl Jones returned as Mufasa from the 1994 animated film.

Beyoncé also contributed to The Lion King: The Gift, a companion album inspired by the film. The project included “Spirit,” an original song associated with the movie. The 2019 production should not be confused with Disney’s original animated The Lion King, released in 1994.
