In which U.S. state did Georgia O'Keeffe make her home at Ghost Ranch?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe made her home at Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.

Ghost Ranch is a dramatic area near Abiquiú in northern New Mexico, known for colorful cliffs, mesas, and wide desert views. O'Keeffe first visited the region in 1934 and soon began spending long periods there. Its geological formations became recurring subjects in her paintings.

She rented a house at Ghost Ranch for many years and later maintained a separate home in the village of Abiquiú. The landscapes around both places supplied the bones, hills, crosses, churches, and adobe forms that became characteristic elements of her mature work.

O'Keeffe's connection with New Mexico is sometimes reduced to a general interest in the Southwest, but particular locations mattered greatly to her. Ghost Ranch and Abiquiú were distinct parts of her life and artistic practice, both in the state of New Mexico.
