TSMC is headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, commonly called TSMC, was founded in 1987 and pioneered the dedicated semiconductor foundry model. Instead of designing most of its own branded chips, TSMC manufactures chips designed by other companies, including major technology firms.
Its headquarters are in Hsinchu Science Park, a major center for Taiwan’s electronics and semiconductor industries. TSMC’s advanced manufacturing capacity has made it strategically important to the global supply chain and has helped make the company one of the world’s most valuable listed semiconductor businesses.
Hsinchu is sometimes confused with Taipei because Taipei is Taiwan’s capital and largest well-known city. They are separate cities in northern Taiwan. TSMC’s market capitalization reflects investor expectations about its manufacturing technology, customer base, profitability, and role in the expanding demand for advanced chips.
