In which sea is the Isle of Man located?
Answer
Irish Sea
Answer
Irish Sea
The Isle of Man is located in the Irish Sea. The island lies between Great Britain and Ireland, roughly midway between England, Northern Ireland and Scotland, with Wales farther to the south. It is a self-governing British Crown Dependency rather than part of the United Kingdom.
The Irish Sea separates the islands of Ireland and Great Britain and connects with the Celtic Sea through St George’s Channel in the south and with Scottish waters through the North Channel in the north. The Isle of Man is one of the sea’s best-known islands; only Anglesey is larger among its islands.
A common mix-up is calling the Isle of Man part of Ireland or the UK. Its cultural history includes strong Irish, Scottish Gaelic and Norse influence, but its political status is distinct. The island’s surrounding waters also help explain its importance in ferry transport, fishing and the famous Isle of Man TT motorcycle races.
