In which New Mexico town did Georgia O'Keeffe restore and live in a historic hacienda?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe restored and lived in a historic hacienda in Abiquiú, New Mexico.

She bought the property in 1945 and spent several years restoring it before moving in during 1949. The house had an adobe wall with a distinctive black door, a subject that O'Keeffe painted repeatedly. The home became one of the most recognizable physical settings connected with her later life.

Abiquiú is sometimes confused with Santa Fe because Santa Fe was the nearest major cultural center and the eventual location of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. It is also distinct from Ghost Ranch, where she had another home and painted the surrounding landscape.

O'Keeffe lived in Abiquiú for much of the later part of her life. The house is now preserved as a historic site and offers evidence of how closely her everyday surroundings, architecture, and artistic subjects were linked.
