In which New Mexico town did Georgia O'Keeffe make her home from 1949?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe made her home in Abiquiú, New Mexico, from 1949.

After Alfred Stieglitz died in 1946, O'Keeffe moved permanently from New York to New Mexico in 1949. She had already visited the region regularly since the 1920s and had found its landscapes central to her artistic vision.

In Abiquiú, she lived in a historic adobe house that became an important part of her daily life and imagery. The surrounding cliffs, high desert, roads, and architectural forms appeared repeatedly in her paintings. The house is now preserved as part of the Georgia O'Keeffe Home and Studio.

Taos and Santa Fe are also strongly associated with O'Keeffe, but they are not the answer to this specific question. Abiquiú was her long-term home, while Ghost Ranch, farther north, was another major source of inspiration.
