In which New Mexico town did Georgia O'Keeffe maintain her famous home and studio?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe maintained her famous home and studio in Abiquiú, New Mexico.

O'Keeffe acquired the Abiquiú property in 1945 and had it renovated before moving there permanently in 1949. The house, built around a traditional adobe compound, included a distinctive courtyard wall and a door that became a recurring subject in her paintings. The property gave her a private place to live and work near the landscapes that had inspired her since the 1930s.

The Abiquiú home and studio is now managed by the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. It opened for public tours in 2001 and offers insight into her daily routines, collections, workspaces, and relationship with the surrounding environment. The property became a National Historic Landmark in 1998.

Santa Fe is the location of the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum, but it is not the town of this particular home. Ghost Ranch and Abiquiú are also related to her New Mexico years, yet they refer to different places.
