In which Houston group did Beyoncé first become famous?
Answer
Destiny's Child
Answer
Destiny's Child
Beyoncé first became famous as a member of Destiny's Child.
The Houston-founded group began in the late 1990s and became one of the best-selling girl groups in music history. Its major breakthrough came with the 1999 album The Writing's on the Wall, which included the singles “Bills, Bills, Bills,” “Say My Name,” and “Jumpin' Jumpin'.”
The lineup changed several times. The most widely recognized final lineup consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Their 2001 album Survivor produced another major hit, and the group later released Destiny Fulfilled in 2004.
Destiny's Child officially disbanded after a farewell period in the mid-2000s. Beyoncé then developed a highly successful solo career, but she continued to reunite with the group for occasional performances, including a notable appearance at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.
