In which historical region is most of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag set?

The story behind the answer

Most of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is set in the Caribbean.

The game follows Edward Kenway, a Welsh privateer who becomes involved with both the Assassins and Templars during the Golden Age of Piracy. Its main map includes fictional and historical locations around the Caribbean Sea, including Havana, Nassau, and Kingston.

Black Flag emphasizes naval exploration more than earlier main-series entries. Edward commands the Jackdaw, upgrades the ship, attacks forts, hunts sea animals, and travels between islands. The historical setting is mainly the early 18th century, when piracy flourished across Atlantic trade routes.

The game is sometimes mistaken for a purely pirate adventure, but its plot remains connected to the wider Assassin-Templar conflict and the modern-day Abstergo storyline. It was released in 2013.
